"There Isn't Time" is a poem by Eleanor Farjeon. It tells us about someone who dreams of doing many exciting things but feels there is not enough time. The poem uses simple words to share the speaker's wishes and thoughts.
There isn't time, there isn't time
To do the things I want to do,
With all the mountain-tops to climb,
And all the woods to wander through,
The speaker feels there is not enough time to do all the things they love. They want to climb mountains and walk through forests without a plan.
And all the seas to sail upon,
And everywhere there is to go,
And all the people, everyone
Who lives upon the earth, to know.
The speaker also wants to sail on seas and visit every place. They dream of knowing every person living on earth.
There's only time, there's only time
To know a few, and do a few,
And then sit down and make a rhyme
About the rest I want to do.
The speaker realizes there is only time to know and do a few things. They plan to sit and write a poem about all the other things they still want to do.
The poem teaches us that we cannot do everything we want because time is limited. It encourages us to enjoy the few things we can do.
